The First Students Workshop on Peace, Religion and Media

Introduction
At this point in history, when media has become a window through which we can see the world and know about the reality, when it has dominated our political, social and cultural relations and while our thoughts, world views, lifestyles and even our religious beliefs are deeply influenced by it, to understand the media and its relation with the other aspects of human life is of the utmost importance. The First Students Workshop on Peace, Religion and Media which will be held simultaneously with The Second International Conference on Religion and Media will provide a unique opportunity in a friendly environment for the young participants to explore the complicated relationship between religion and media and to enhance their knowledge and skills in redirecting the power of this relationship towards the positive aim of building a culture of peace.
Objectives
- To develop a resource and knowledge base for young intellectuals, community leaders, journalists and other media activists
- To offer Fellowships to young scholars in research work in order to develop both their understanding about socio-cultural and political situation in the Middle East and the links between religion, media, globalization, and modernity.
- To foster interreligious dialogue and empower young leaders and activists with the leadership skills required to advance reconciliation and coexistence.
Program
- Participation in Religion and Media Conference
- Short course on Religion and Media Theories
- Curriculum development and Trainers Training for peacebuilding through mass media skills
- Meetings with prominent leaders in government, media and religious communities.
- Workshop Forum
Workshop Fees
There is NO registration or accommodation fee for selected participants but they are responsible for their own airfares. It means that only the costs of travel to and from Iran have to be paid by the participants and all costs of stay in Iran, including attendance at all conference sessions and workshop programs, accommodation, food and local transport, will be covered by the organizer.
